Help your fundraising go further

Get the people that sponsor you to give tax effectively

If you are a UK taxpayer you can use Gift Aid to make your donation go further by telling HM Revenue and Customs to add tax that you have already paid to your donation. It doesn’t cost you anything more and it could mean that we could claim an extra 28p for each pound you give – this makes a huge difference to us.

Gift Aid means that you can turn a £10 donation into a £12.80 donation at no extra cost.

How can you help?

Make sure the people who sponsor you fill your sponsorship form in correctly. In order to claim the Gift Aid we need to know:

  • Name
  • 1st line of the home address
  • Home postcode
  • In addition the ‘Gift Aid’ box on the sponsorship for must be ticked

If sponsors provide a work address or department rather than a home address and postcode we are not able to claim Gift Aid.
People who do not pay UK tax should not tick the ‘Gift Aid’ box on the sponsorship form.
If sponsors pay tax at the higher rate, they can claim further tax relief via a self assessment tax return.
